History
In the past, South Cambie grew along beside its neighbouring communities Oakridge and Marpole.
Development was slow in the beginning, but because of the industrial forces migrating to the area, construction was starting to build this small community into a unique and characteristic place to live. With the new Oak Street Bridge built, many people were settling down in this quaint neighbourhood, and because of the growing population schools and hospitals were now being built to satisfy the residents.Today most of the residents are young, active professionals and families. As you travel through the area you will find many different types of housing, such as detached houses that were built before 1970.There are also many heritage homes from before the 60s that are still standing and add much character.Divided houses with rental units and walk-up apartments and condominiums are also available.
